Swine flu

The heads of different government possisions including Obama have decided to keep schools open if the swine flu hits. They said that they should only close the schools if they can not function or if the swine flu mutates into a more deadly virus. They know that last spring the swine flu infected 800,000 people but if they knew then what they know now it wouldnt have been as big an epidemic. The experts say that the swine flu isnt any different then the normal seasonal flus that are around. The professionals know that school inevitably are going to still close down but they say that it will cause a social disruption if they do. They know that the schools with pregnant teens and kids with lung dissabilities will probably have to close to keep them safe from the virus but some communities are using reactive dissmissals. This means closing the school if there is excessive absenteeism, if large numbers of kids are visiting the school health office, if the school isn't able to keep sick people out, if they cant maintain school functions, should also cancel school-related mass gatherings.

The Attacks

On Thursday morning Facebook Twitter and Livejournal were attacked by a hacker disrupting the usage of the sites to 306 million users. The hacker had the website send out request that made it so the websites couldnt be access. Experts say that twitter was shut down in most of the world for about three hours and couldnt send out tweets for most of that time. Facebook and Livejournal were shut down for around an hour before technitions fixed the problem but the Live Journal still couldnt be reached hrough iPhones or in Eastern Europe. Experts say that they havnt seen anything like this sence the attacks on Yahoo, eBay, Amazon.com, Etrade, ZDNET and CNN in Febuary of 2000. They also beleive that these hackers are doing this to show how strong these computer bots can be in the hands of crimals.

American Idol

Paula Abdul has told the news and the reporters that she has left American Idol to search for some more jobs. I was listening to it on the radio and she didnt give a exact reason why she has decided to leave but Nigel Lythgoe told the reporters that she left because she wants more money. Nigel Lythgoe who is a dancer and a choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance told reporters that he also thinks that she decided to leave because she might have some issues with some of the other judges. He also stated that he thinks that if Simon put up some of his own money Paula still probably wouldnt have stayed. I just think that she was the nicest judge on that squad from what I saw in the screenings and that they are going to have to find another one just to be where they were.

Big Papi

I was lisining to WEEI today and they were talking about David Ortiz and the steriod scandel that is going on. I guess Ortiz will making a statment this weekend about his use of steriods. Lou Maloney was talking about how he really feels that Ortiz didnt know that he was useing steriods and that it was just a supplement that contained them. This means that he thinks that Ortiz never accually put a needle into his body and this is what is making this scandel so contraversal. When the results come out and says weather or not Ortiz used a needle and anabolic steriods, this will either make or break Ortiz. If the results come back and Ortiz was just useing a supplement he can actually say that he didnt know what he was usinng. I honestly beleive that Ortiz knew exactly what he was putting in his body. But I really dont blame him at all because it was the steriod era and every one else was using it. I probably would have done the same thing if i was a professional baseball player because it is your job and the only way you get paid is to put of big numbers and the ability to stay on the feild.

Michael "Scott" Speicher

The remains of a navy pilot were found yesterday in a grave in Irag. The remains were of Micheal Spieicher who had crashed his plane in 1991 during the gulf war. After he had gone missing the navy and cia searched for 5 years for the remains of the crash or Speicher. In 1995 the crash site was found but the remains of the body were not there. After the crash was found the department declared him killed in action but in 2001 the CIA beleived that he survived by ejecting from his plane. This is the first time that the department has changed the status of someone that has gone missing during the war. For the third time the pentagon decided to change his staus again from missing in action to missing-captured during the war. The invasion of Iraq in 2003 gave new hope of finding his remains and a tip from an Iraqi citizen said that they had taking his body and burried it after finding the crash. When they finally did the test on the bones found they declaired that they were the bones tof Michael Speicher.

Travis Pastrana

Travis is a mainiac I cant beleive that someone in their right mind would even try something like this. Honestly i dont watch alot of Motorcross and dont really know who is good in the sport right now but Travis still looks pretty good. I remember when i was younger i used to watch the Xgames alot but as i grew i forgot about all of it. I think it is weird not watching something for a while and then turning it on one day and watching people doing tricks you have never even thought of. I defenatly think that we will see more major injureys in these sports as the years go on because people are just pushing their bodies harder and harder. Also people are getting more and more athletic as well. Like a year or two ago I saw on ESPN that a guy fell from a skatebaord 50 or so feet and fell right on his back. He got up and walked but it just shows how far these athletes will go to win.

Eminem

Eminem has been in beefs with other artist since he came into his career in the music industry. When Slim Shady first came into rapping he had beef with many different people including people like the Insane Clown Posse, Christina Aguilera, Ja Rule, Benzino or Everlast. Eminem has a new beef that sproted from a song called "Obsessed" that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon released not long ago. well after the songs release Shady came out with a song called "The Warning". This is Eminems first beef since a 2004 interview with MTVs Sway saying that he was done beefing with people that it is just a waist of time. Honestly I think that Eminem is just feuding with people right now because he feels his rap career is on the down fall. But i also think that the media is making a big deal out of it because Em hasnt done much in a couple of years.

Swine Flu vaccine

They have found a vaccine for the swine flu or the H1N1 virus that has swept across the United States and other regions as well. They have found a vaccine but they dont think that they will be able to immunize every American in time for the flu season. So they have decided to only immunize a portion of the population about 150 million americans in all. The first people recieve the vaccine are health care workers, emergency medical personel, pregnant women, peoplecaring for infants under 6 months, children and young adults from 6 months to 25 years and adults 25 years to 64 that have severe meical conitions like asthma, diabetes and heart disease. But the experts beleive that they might have a shortage of immunizations and they might only be able to give the vaccine to 40 million. If this should happen the priority would be pregnant women, health and emergency workers and people caring for infints would recieve the vaccine.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter has been at the top of the boards even though the weeekend take dropped 64% from the first debut. It is in 39th for the most money netted just in the first 12 days then any other movie made by warner bros. This movie has also allowed warner bros to break a billion dollars gross for the 9th year in a row. Fox was the first to break the mark then warneer bros and paramount and sony have yet to break the bench mark. i went to see Harry Potter the other day and i thought that it was pretty funny. It was deffinetly the funiest Harry Potter movie made becasue the humor was a little more grown up. But other then that I think everyone should see this movie in theaters.

Gates Arrest

I was just reading on the news about the Police officer who arrested the professor from harvard. They were both invited to the White House to have a beer with Obama. ireally like how the president and the other two men are handleing themselves through this situation. They have all realized that they made mistakes and they are willing to smooth them out with eachother. I think that this just shows a whole lot about how far the USA has come from the days of slavery.

Obama

The whole united states is in an uprage about the comments that obama made about the Boston cop who arrested the African American Harvard professor. The other day a harvard professor was trying to get into his house but lost his keys. So a neghbor decided to call the cops and when they arrived the harvard professor was giving them an attitude about them asking for his ID. So the cops decided to arrest him for disordely conduct. The next day obama went on live television and decided to call the cops of cambridge stupid and what they did was wrong. The funny thing was that Obama didnt know the whole details about the situation and now every one is outraged about what he said.

Red Sox

The last that i have heard of the Red Sox they decided to trade everyones favorite short stop Hulio Lugo for a first basemen. Honestly in my opinion and people on WEEIs opinion that wasnt the best trade. I thought that they shouldve gone after a third basemen knowing that Lowell is gettting older and older every year. Another thing is that Youkalis is going to be playing for another 10 years and he isnt going to be a gold glover at third base for 10 years he will be one at first base. So i think leave Youk at first cuz he wil last longer and get another third base men.

Lester vs Halladay

Todays Red Sox game told alot about what the media is going to be talking about for the next month. Today Halladay pitched a complete game only letting up 1 run in a 3-1 win over the Sox. I mean dont get me wrong lester pitched a great game to but troy is on the trade block and people are wondering if the sox are going to try to get him. I honestly dont think they should and most people in the media are saying the same thing because the blue jays are looking for 5 prospects of ther picking. But Halladays performance today might be changing the minds of the media.

Tennesee

Something that has been bothering me for a long time is how people can acually murder some one else. I have kind of been following the investigation on the 6 murders in tennesee and they have found a man that has confesed to the murders. Honestly i dont think that should say any thing about the man confessing on the radio or the news because they are not sure if this guy really did it or he is just saying it. Id ont know why someone would confess to murders that they didnt commit but some people just do stuff lie that. I just think that the media can blow things like this up and make mistakes in putting stuff out there.

Weather

I have been watching the weather channel for the last 3 weeks just wondering when this New England weather was going to throw another curve ball at us and it did. I am not trying to jinx any thing for the superstitious people. I frankly dont beleive in that stuff but the last few days have been beautiful and i love it. I have been to the beech three times this summa and they have been in the last three days. On channel 47 they said that it was going to be 80 degrees for this week and there is no rain on the schedule if any one else loves this weather follow my blog.

Elderly drivers

For the last month or so me and my family have been doing every thing we could to get my grandmother to stop driving. To let you know that she is 89 years old and has just recovered from hip sergury. Every time i turn on the tv it seems like there has been another elderly person that has been killed or has killed someone else while driving a car. Honestly i beleive that every one has the right to drive a car and to drive as long as they can. But i think that every one when they hit a certain age, like 75 should be tested every 5 years or so to make sure that they are not a damage to them or to others on the road. The other day i was watching the tv and saw that a 83 year old driver had killed another person while driving and now he is being charged with vehicular manslaughter. I beleive before this happened they should have tested him to see if he shouldve been driving at all.

Well as you know i went to the red sox game last night and they won. I couldnt beleive how bad there relief pitchers did they were winning 9-0 when they took out smoltz. then the royals made a little come back and i thought that the sox were going to blow it but they held on to win. when i first got there i had said that i never saw a home run at fenway part and they ended up hitting four of them in this game. Veritek had one youk had two and big papi had one.

Red Sox

I am actually going to the red sox game tonight at fenway park and Smoltz is the starting pitcher. i hope that his outing is better then his last two but who knows. I dont know if i am the only one that thknks the Sox are going all the way this year but they have the pitching staff, the fielding and now that Ortiz is back hitting the ball we have the hitting to. i think that the media was a big part in why this athletes get into slumps like ortiz and JD Drew. It is hard enough to goout every day and play as hard as you can and go 0-4 then after that go home to your family and have to here about it on ESPN or the news. I give guys like youk and Bay so much credit because they go out every day and perform at such a high level but i give guys like ortiz even more credit to come out of the slump liek he was in to batting close to 300 with 12 homers.

mcnair

I just think that what happened to Steve mcnair is such a tragedy he was sch a great football player and such an athlete. There has been alot of people on ESPN that are starting to talk more about if athletes are really doing what they are suppose to to be roll models for the younger kids. The story about Vick and Pac Man Jones is also brought up in it as well but what i think is that just because they are professional athletes and they are all over the TV doesnt mean that they are going to be good role models.
